Greek Evangelical Church has its spiritual roots in the Apostolic Church which Jesus Christ founded
and in the Evangelical Reformation of 16th century.
The first Greek Evangelical Church founded in 1858 at Athens. Since then, many other Evangelical Church founded in many cities and villages of our country, and its number increased after the arrival of Greek evangelicals refugees from Mikra Asia (West Turkey).
Greek Evangelical Church of Katerini founded in 1923 after population exchange between Greeks and Turkeys, by Greek Evangelicals, who came from Greek Evangelical Churches of Pontos.
We use the name "Evangelical", which becomes from the word "Evangelio" -the whole Holy Bible- which constitutes the only order of our life and faith.
We adore God with propriety and godliness, which He deserves and with the simplicity of the first Apostolic Church.
Our church's purpose is to worship altogether our almighty Lord, to preach and teach God's Word, to lead
the sinful and lost individual to Jesus Christ and into salvation's path and to offer brotherhood
companionship, encouragement and spiritual growth.
Thus our invitation addresses every person to come to Jesus Christ. It is exactly the same invitation that Jesus made when He said: "Come to me, all ye who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest".
This particular invitation , includes all the mercy, the love, the forgiveness and the grace of God, because it addresses people who are weary, burdened, disappointed, and fearful. People, who are sinners, that are called not to apologize or to be punished but they are called to salvation, to refreshment, forgiveness and true life.
The answer to God's invitation, is not just attending a Church congregation or a religion, but to go to Him, personally, that is believing in Christ who died, resurrected and lives NOW.
Jesus Christ offers you today the only way leading to eternal life, asking from you to confess your needs and to spread your empty hand of your faith to Him, to receive His gifts: rest, peace, reparation, joy, strength and hope.
In other words He offers himself. Will you accept Him?
